Herzlich willkommen zum Blütenbrief 06/2005
Zuerst einmal möchte ich all jene um Verständnis bitten, die im letzten Monat versucht haben, mich per Email zu erreichen, und denen das nicht gelungen ist. Die blueten@essenzen.net-adresse ist mittlerweile in den Fluten des Spams ertrunken, da halfen auch die etwa 1000 Filter nicht mehr, die Werbemails gleich beim Eintreffen löschen sollen.

Gundermann – Glechoma hederacea
Stichworte: Direktheit, Verantwortung, Selbstbewusstsein
Diese Pflanze zeigt uns ganz bestimmte Wachs- und Blühmuster, aus denen wir bereits die ersten Hinweise auf die Wirkung ihrer Essenz ableiten können, sprich: sie besitzt eine ausgeprägte und leicht zu interpretierende Signatur.
Ihr Wachstum ist absolut invasiv. Wenn man es zulässt, überwuchert sie viele andere Pflanze, und dazu verwendet sie einen gewissen Kniff. Sie bildet lange Ausläufer, die quasi über andere Pflanzen hinweggreifen, um dahinter neue Wurzeln zu schlagen. Darunter wird die überwucherte Pflanze erstickt, und neues Terrain ist gewonnen.
Was zu dieser „Skrupellosigkeit“ einen gewissen Kontrast bildet, ist die Blüte. Klein, unscheinbar und gut versteckt erscheint diese nämlich jeweils unterhalb eines Blattes. Die Pflanze stellt so zu sagen ihr Licht unter den Scheffel. Das unterstreicht auch ihre Affinität zum Schatten, in dem sie selbst ohne direktes Sonnenlicht gedeiht.
Hier finden wir eine Parallele zu menschlichen Verhaltensweisen. Es geht um Menschen, denen es an Selbstbewusstsein mangelt, ja die von ihrer Wertlosigkeit überzeugt sind, und nicht daran glauben, mit ihren Talenten und Fähigkeiten auf direktem Wege etwas erreichen zu können.
Das Verhalten erinnert in seinem Fatalismus an das von Stechginster (Gorse): „da kann man ja doch nichts machen“ oder auch „die da oben machen sowieso, was sie wollen“.
Ihren Vorteil versuchen sie im Gegensatz zu Stechginster dennoch zu erreichen, durch Tricks, Manipulation, Verbreiten von Gerüchten etc. Wer am Arbeitsplatz oder sonstwo gemobbt wird, sollte einmal darüber nachdenken, ob die Mobber nicht genau zu diesem Menschenschlag gehören: eigentlich voller Minderwertigkeitskomplexe, scheinbar oder tatsächlich vom Schicksal in irgendeiner Form benachteiligt, unfähig zu direkter Kommunikation, viele Dinge einfach herunter schluckend, statt Kontra zu geben und sich zu wehren usw. Die vorherrschende Überzeugung ist, aus sich heraus nur wenig wert zu sein und bei direkter Auseinandersetzung immer zu den Verlierern zu gehören – wenn nicht ohnehin im Leben. Voller Angst und Aggression, sich in der Fantasie Illusionen eigener, wenngleich verkannter Größe hingebend (Stichwort: das verkannte Genie; Problem: es handelt sich dabei nicht notwendigerweise tatsächlich um ein Genie), vom Leben für höheres bestimmt, von den Menschen jedoch nicht anerkannt setzen sie sich auf ihre eigene, feige Weise doch zur Wehr, was bei anderen allerdings wie ein Angriff rüberkommt. Da kann dann schon mal ganz aus Versehen der Kaffeebecher über die wichtigen Papiere des Kollegen laufen (das tuuut mir aber Leid).
Problematisch ist bei einer solchen Persönlichkeitsstruktur das Fehlen von Einsicht. Die anderen sind schlecht, unzulänglich, bösartig, was weiß ich – die anderen müssen sich ändern, nicht ich (und das mit dem Kaffeebecher war wirklich ganz unabsichtlich).
Deshalb sollte man sich auch nicht unbedingt auf das beliebte „Ziehen“ eines Fläschchens aus dem Blütenkästchen verlassen. Oft funktioniert es nicht, wie z.B. bei Bleiwurz (Cerato). Ein Bleiwurz-Typ ist so unsicher in seiner Wahl, dass er mit ziemliicher Sicherheit das entsprechende Fläschchen verfehlt. Analog dazu ziehen Gundermänner (und -frauen) eher Fläschchen, die in Resonanz zu ihren Illusionen, nicht aber ihrer wahren Persönlichkeit steht.
Als Behandlerin oder Berater muss man da auf der Hut sein. Der Klient, die Patientin sind gekommen, um zu täuschen, nicht um sich der Realität zu stellen. Sie wollen, dass die anderen von selbst aus dem Weg gehen, da ihnen zum „Platz da!“ das Durchsetzungsvermögen und Selbstvertrauen fehlt. Doch eine solche Blütenessenz ist mir bislang nicht bekannt, der es gelänge, jemanden mit einer solchen Aura auszustatten, dass alle potenziellen Konfliktgegner beim Anblick des Gundermann-Typus gleich den Schwanz einziehen und nachgeben. Das wäre auch nur der Versuch, die augenblickliche Rollenverteilung zu vertauschen.
Der Feigling wünscht sich halt die Feigheit der anderen. Ob es letztlich hilfreich wäre, wenn am Ende alle feige wären, wage ich zu bezweifeln, denn das wäre letztlich die Konsequenz einer „Wunschbehandlung“ eines Menschen in Gundermann-Not. Er traut sich eigene Stärke nicht zu, deshalb ersehnt er sich die Schwäche anderer.
Die Essenz wirkt nun auf unterschiedliche Weise.
Die englische Firma Earth Essence nennt die Stichworte: „Selbstwahrnehmung, Selbstvertrauen und Handlungsfähigkeit“. Das unterstreicht oben Gesagtes, ohne ins Detail zu gehen.
Der Aspekt, den Ursula Keilholz von der „Blütenwelt“ ins Spiel bringt, erhellt die Sache weiter. Sie schreibt, Gundermann eigne sich für Leute, die sich an der Kindheit fest klammern und nicht erwachsen werden und keine Verantwortung übermnehmen wollen. Sie ließen sich alles bieten und verdrängten ihre Gefühle. Die Essenz sei folglich eine, die einem die Übernahme von Selbstverantwortung erleichtert und auch Durchhaltevermögen verleiht.
Am längsten ist sicher „Hondsdraf“ von Bloesem Remedies Nederland in Gebrauch. Bram Zaalberg schreibt, Hondsdraf mache alte Verhaltensmuster bewusst, deren Vorhandensein man bislang verdrängte und ergo nicht bemerkte. Die Blüte koordiniere die inneren Qualitäten und bringe Vertrauen in das eigene Sein und Handeln. Sie eigne sich in der Behandlung, wann immer schmerzhafte emotionale Störungen auftreten. Er empfiehlt, bei während einer Sitzung akut auftretenden Störungen emotionaler und/oder körperlicher Art, das Fläschchen leicht zu schütteln, es anschließend über den betroffenen Bereich im Körper zu halten und es dann langsam vom Körper weg zu ziehen. Dies wirke wie eine Art schmerzlösender Magnet.
Kurzum: Gundermann ist eine Blütenessenz für Menschen, die nicht offen und geradeheraus sind, sondern aufgrund von Minderwertigkeitsgefühlen die indirekte Auseinandersetzung und die Intrige dem offen ausgetragenen Konflikt vorziehen. Die Essenz hält ihnen den Spiegel vor, gibt ihnen aber zugleich die Kraft, dem verstörenden Bild stand zu halten, das sie darin erblicken. Sie erdet, stärkt die Eigenverantwortung und hilft, den Veränderungsprozess anzustoßen wie auch durchhalten zu lassen.
Als Begleitessenzen kommen sicher Tausendgüldenkraut (Hilflosigkeit), Heidekraut (Egozentrik), Gefleckte Gauklerblume (Angst) und Rosmarin bzw. Waldrebe (Flucht) in Frage. Oder umgekehrt: wo die genannten Bachblüten trotz zutreffender Indikation nicht greifen, kann die Beigabe von Gundermann das innere Knäuel, in dem sich diese Menschen verheddert haben, auflösen und bei der Ausrichtung auf eine positive und klare Zukunft eine wichtige Rolle übernehmen.

Ground Ivy - Gundermann – Glechoma hederacea

This plant shows a signature that gives us clues to her essence's qualities and can easily be interpreted.
Her growth pattern is invasive. If you let her, she will overgrow other plants by using this trick: she creates offshoots which grow very high before their weight bows them down right behing the next plant in the neighbourhood. There she roots again, building a new plant, while the one between mother- and daughterplant is being strangled and dies. At last you see a field of Ground Ivy without other plants in between. This is the way Ground Ivy increases her territory.
On the other hand the plant displays a kind of inferiority complex by hiding her flowers underneath the leaves. She also prefers shadowy places. You can say she hides her light under a bushel (however as you will see in a way that the bushel burns).
This floral behaviour pattern mirrors a human pattern. Here we have humans lacking of self-worth and self-consciousness, who doubt their own abilities and skills and never feel good enough.
This reminds me of Gorse and her fatalism. Gorse people always feel they cannot change anything, they do not fight for their right but take everything bad as nothing but a proof of their unworthiness. This however does not mean they accept their fate or bad luck or whatever like Gorse does. They just give up, but the fight goes on inside (a good way to create cancer).
Ground Ivy – in contrast to Gorse – tries to find her fortune anyway, even by using dirty tricks, manipulation, spreading rumours etc. People experiencing mobbing in their jobs or whereever may ask themselves, if the ones, fighting and injuring them, belong to the type, that Ground Ivy essence matches. People fighting against others in their workplace often suffer from inferiority complex, trying to prove their own worth by working against others, surpressing them etc. Perhaps they have had some bad luck, were betrayed or whatever. But this gives them not the right to pass such bad behaviour patterns on to others. They seem unable to face conflicts, they do not dare to say what they think and feel, but swallow their complaints. They avoid confrontation, but seek their fortune by foul play.
Behind this behaviour you can often find beliefs, that sabotage the person him- or herself. A feeling of unworthiness combined with the fear of confrontation and the expectation to always be the loser in an open fight and at the same time finding oneself an unappreciated genius (unfortunatley feeling like a genius does not necessarily make them one ) following a higher destiny – this all makes a person a foul player, a coward trying to win by using manipulation at last. He or she is the one who accidently spills his coffee over your most important document ... „oh, I'm sooo sorry...“.
Unlike others who gain some insight in their problem, a Ground Ivy type is unable to see his own actions the way they appear to others. He rather sticks to a very childish point of view unable to put himself into another one's position. On the contrary, it is always the others who are mean, bad, aggressive and so on.
That is why one should be careful when choosing the right essence. Just like a Cerato type he cannot make the right choice. Cerato cannot pick the right bottle, perhaps he picks the essence that resonates to the one, whose advice he just asked. Ground Ivy does not find the right essence, because he does not see his own neediness. Taking the right essence will cause painful insight, and pain is something he wants to avoid. Anyway a part of him or her, that needs to be healed, requires Ground Ivy – so in this case the counsellor or therapist has to make the right decision for the client. And he has to be very clear. The patient has come to get help, but he only accepts a help that keeps and protects his current illusion of the world, the others and the rest (and thanks for the fish). He refuses a new perspective. Not an easy task for the therapist to make the client to try it anyway.
Ground Ivy does not want to discuss or argue, he simply wants that everybody else should step aside without asking and without any further ado when he comes. That is what all people lacking the ability to assert themselves want. The obstacles have to disappear by themselves. However there is no such essence providing them with an aura that makes problems go away. We can only offer some that help to solve them.
So how does the essence work?
Since Ground Ivy has been made before we can take a look on other ressources of information as well. For example on the keywords given by the English company Earth Essences: „For self-perception, for self-confidence, for determination to do.“
A German producer, Ursula Keilholz from Blütenwelt, highlights the stage, when the Ground Ivy behaviour patterns originate: in the childhood. She writes, Ground Ivy is for people, who cling to their childhood, who want to stay kids and avoid to grow up and take responsibility. They suppress their feelings and never defend themselves. The essence helps such people to take over responsibility for themselves and gain stamina.
The „oldest“ Ground Ivy essence has been made by Bram Zaalberg from Bloesem Remedies Nederland. His „Hondsdraf“ essence has been used for 15 years now and can certainly be considered a well researched one. Bram says Hondsdraf brings insight into old behaviour patterns, of which the person himself does not even know they exist. We know two kinds of hallucinations, one which makes us add things to our perception, that are not there – this is the positive one. The other makes makes us ignore things that do exist – negative hallucinations. That is the one Ground Ivy types suffer from. Bram recommends this essence whenever there are disturbances coming up during the therapy hour or the therapy as a whole. If there is an acute fear or panic or pain, Bram suggests to shake the bottle and then hold it above the area in the body where the pain appears. Then you should slowly take away the bottle, so that it can work like a magnet drawing the pain out of the body. I think it is worth a try.
Conclusion: Ground Ivy is an essence for people who avoid direct confrontation due to a lack of self-confidence resp. inferiority complex and prefer the intrigue to a conflict in the open. This is a survival pattern and should be seen as such. One should be clear about the fact that judging a client's personality and behaviour is not the task of a counsellor or therapist. It is not that simple, that someone is mean and the god-like therapist can change him into a good person. However a responsible therapist can show the client the door into the open and the essence can help him go through it. But still he has to go on his own feet.
The essence works like a mirror, so it can be painful to notice things about oneself, one does not like. On the other hand she supports us and gives us strength to face them. She induces processes that can change us, our inner and outer world and our position within both. She grounds us, clears away illusional 'positive thinking' and makes us strong to face reality. But she also shows us our talents and skills, our own worth and strength, things we may have ignored for such a long time.
There are a couple of essence that accompagny Ground Ivy very well:
Centaury – for people who feel helpless
Heather – for people, who let the inner child rule themselves in a childish way
Mimulus – helps to face the fear
Clematis and Rosemary – for people who always tend to run away and flee.
But this is also true vice versa: if one of the mentioned essences should not work (of course they may be the wrong ones, but if they were not...), the additon of Ground Ivy may help to solve the problem, to make complicated issues clear and show a brighter future to inspire the inner forces to make a start, to change, to grow internally, a future that makes people want to experience. As strong and self-assured human beings who can trust themselves and have enough energy, strength and courage to face and go through any difficult issue or obstacle that may stand in their way.
